Not even light rain through the day could keep mystery aficionados away from the Santa Barbara Book Fest. One of Bob's stops during the day was for a signing session at the Sisters in Crime booth, along with Two Lawrences--no waiting: Martha Lawrence (left) and Cynthia Lawrence.
Bob had a hug for Victoria Heckman, a SinC chapter president as well as a member of the MWA-SoCal chapter. Note that between them they're dressed for any changes in the quirky SoCal weather.
One of many MWA-SoCal panels held under a special tent throughout the day featured (from left) Leonard Tourney, Bob, Dick Lochte, and moderator Tom Nolan on the subject of "Mysteries, from Shakespeare to Noir."
All participating MWA-SoCal member-authors followed their panels with a signing stint at the local Borders booth, including Dick Lochte and Bob, here anticipating arrival of the thundering hordes and trying to spot any cakes that someone might have left out in the rain...
With authors Gayle Lynds (left) and Melodie Johnson Howe. They're members of the MWA-SoCal board of directors and the high-energy duo that arranged for the Fest to have a mystery theme and developed the all-day series of MWA panels.
