IN SITE 21 – SLUG LINE: JANUARY-MARCH, 2008

IN THE KEY OF DEATH, my seventh book and third thriller for Five Star/Imprint of Gale, ships late March, and we expect it will be available by the time we kick off  our series of launch activities April 5 at the Nicholls State University “Writers Jubilee Jambalaya and Book Fair” in Houma, LA, where we’ll be heading at the invitation of irrepressible Molly Bolden of Houma’s Bent Pages Bookstore (top photo), whose enticements included promise of a “real”  Cajun meal of crab, shrimp and crawfish boil, plus gumbo and potato salad…

AMONG  THE LAST OUTINGS of ‘07 was Joan Hansen’s eighth all-day “Men of Mystery” celebration in Irvine, CA, where fifty featured authors included (middle photo,  from left) Jonathan Miller, Bob L, Shane Gericke and Tim Green...Add to that multiple store and library

appearances with five other L.A. area authors featured in the HOLLYWOOD AND CRIME anthology edited by Robert J. Randisi,  including (bottom photo,  from leftBob L Bobby McCue of the hosting Mystery Bookstore in Westwood, CA, Lee Goldberg, Ken Kuhlken, Gar Anthony Haywood. (MIA were Dick Lochte and Gary Phillips...)

BIG, BLUSHING THANKS to, among others: Ruth Jordan, for her so-nice words in her so-fine Crimespree Magazine...Christine Verstraete for ditto in her Mystical-E Magazine column...Diana James for ditto in her president’s column in a recent Sisters-in-Crime-Southern California Ransom Notes newsletter...Elaine (Evil E) Flinn for ditto in her Evil E blog…and,  of course, authors Palmer, Graham, Wilson, Rollins and Parker, whose comments after getting an advance look at IN THE KEY OF DEATH went way, way (way) beyond ego-inflating…I couldn’t be more appreciative...

THE SHORT(S) OF IT—Following the lead of Jeffery Deaver, James Lee Burke, Ed Gorman and others, I’ve joined the ranks of authors with an original short story (“Weeds”) available online via the Amazon Shorts program. It’s a departure in story-telling for me, so, if you happen to check it out, I’d appreciate getting your reaction (to boblevinson@robertslevinson.com)

CURRENTLY ON TAP—Malice Domestic, April 25-27, Arlington, VA.; Book Expo America, May 29-June 1, Los Angeles...And, until our next “Affair,” take care and be well...
