IN SITE 18 -- SLUGLINE: JULY-SEPTEMBER 2006

THANK YOU, BOOKSTORES, for helping me to a successful launch of  my sixth novel, WHERE THE LIES  BEGIN, and to all the reviewers who’ve had nice words to say about the thriller, most recently the Baltimore Sun (“[An] ever-surprising, character-rich thriller”) and the Midwest Book Review (“A complex and exciting espionage thriller”).  And (natch!) to all the readers—dare I call them “fans”—who’ve turned out for the various in-store and library appearances that have kept me on the promotional merry-go-round the past couple months...Especially gratifying have been stops marked by sell-outs, starting with my traditional book launch at Dutton’s in Brentwood (CA) and more recently at Dark Delicacies in Burbank (CA)...Elsewhere on this web site are a variety of photos taken by (who else?) Sandra Levinson at my various visits, as well as a load of 'em from International Thriller Writers’ first ThrillerFest convention (June 29-July 1) at the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Arizona Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix. A great turnout of authors and mystery-thriller buffs, great panels and special events, and words of praise that had me blushing (really) for the inaugural Thriller Awards show I was invited to produce and emcee...Upcoming: panels at the annual West Hollywood Book Fair, Sunday, Sept. 17, and the Bouchercon 2006 convention, Sept. 28-Oct 1, in Madison
