The Living Circle of Chicago
The Living Circle (c) was founded in 1992 by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered laity and clergy as an urban outreach to the lbgt and allie communities. We are an interfaith chapel, library, pastoral care and referral source for these communities. We emphasize contemplative-activist practices and highlight lbgt spiritality and related topics including same-sex erotic relationships in the history of various faith traditions (e.g., Sergius and Bacchus, c. 300 C.E., and Perpetual and Felicity, c. 200 C.E.). Our chapel features sacred art work and icons done by William Mc Nichols and Robert Lentz, Meinrad Craighead and others. We have held exhibitions at St. James Episcopal Cathedral in Chicago, and also Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Toronto.

We have a core group of about 20 individuals who meet weekly for services and hold retreats and outreach activities. Our mailing list exceeds 350 individuals and organizations primarily in the metro Chicago area, although we have participants who live in Canada, England, and Brazil.
