Predict the Oscars Game

Dateline: 2/13/98

Many years ago I was in a Gay bowling league. At the initial meeting of the league (and if you've never attended one of those, do all you can to continue to avoid the pleasure) we had to determine our "bye" weeks; the weeks we wouldn't bowl. Well, the league was on a Monday night, and it was the unanimous decision of everybody that one of our bye weeks should be the night that the Academy Awards would be telecast. After all, for "us" that's a "religious holiday" no? Well... perhaps.

In honor and memory of those simpler times, here's an Oscar game for your pleasure. Just predict what Oscars will be handed out at the 70th annual Academy Awards. You don't need to have seen the movies... heck, almost 20 years ago I predicted as between "Julia" and "Terms of Endearment" having seen neither. The Oscars will be handed out on March 23rd, so this game will be closed on March 22nd and I'll tally all entries at that time so we can all see how we voted. I'll post the top combined picks and find something from my gift bag for the best predictor. (That's a prize, but I'm not allowed to call it a prize, 'cause that would make this a contest and then I'd have to follow all sorts of silly rules.) You get 1 point for each correct Oscar you predicted. Enjoy!
